April 2007

Katie’s spring break happened to fall during Holy Week this year but it was important for all of us to get away for a bit.  We took after worship on Palm/Passion Sunday which was also our 18th anniversary to the “honeymoon capital of the world” - Niagara Falls!  Jeff had seen the falls but neither Katie nor I had.  The falls are amazing – the surrounding hype wore on all of us after a bit so we traveled up to the Botanical Gardens (which I’m sure are stunning when they are in bloom!) where we enjoyed the butterfly house.  We also found some tasty wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake.  While Katie entertained herself, we sipped wine (some good, some not!).  The wineries there are known for their “ice wine” – the grapes are allowed to freeze on the vines and pressed while frozen.  One of the winemakers told us it was like pressing ball bearings!  It reminded us of going wine tasting with our niece, Ashley, when she was a munchkin in the Santa Ynez valley.    Okay, enough talk, here are the pictures!

18 wonderful years of marriage and one great daugther (missing her front teeth)!

of a white Easter…just like the ones I’ve never known… where the egg tops glisten and children listen to hear the Easter bunny crunching through the snow…*
